Portare alla luce ciò che oggi giace sepolto sotto le abitudini e i consumi moderni — questa è la grande sfida che i trabocchi (tradizionali strutture da pesca) stanno attualmente affrontando. In Per qualcuno può essere lo spazio, Ettore Sottsass scrive:

«C’è una materia pesante e fibrosa da lievitare: questo è il problema. Il problema è darle forma, come si dice, darle un senso, sollevarla dal basso, innalzarla nell’aria e darle un movimento sorprendente e inatteso. Questa è arte.»

Partendo da queste costruzioni che sembrano esserci da tempi immemorabili — e che spesso diamo per scontate — la ricerca si immerge negli elementi specifici che le compongono. Sottopelle è il lievito che tenta di dare forma a un processo che non esiste più nella memoria collettiva locale. Il progetto si propone di analizzare le qualità grafiche e materiali imprevedibili dei componenti che formano il trabucco, delineando un possibile percorso per la sua ricostruzione.
